Deep engagement wth the financial sector has been facilitated by an active collaboration with the UNEP Finance Initiative, a public-private partnership between the United Nations Environment Programme and the global financial sector. UNEP FI works closely with over 170 financial institutions, which includes banks, insurers, asset managers, and pension funds to develop and promote linkages between the environment, sustainability and financial performance.

43 financial institutions with over $4 trillion in collective assets under management have already put their names to a letter requesting disclosure of companies’ forest footprints.
